Are We Being Served?
Are We Being Served? is a brand new series which looks at customer service in the UK.
Presented by consumer champion Julia Bradbury with newcomer and customer service expert, Arkin Salih, each of the six programmes lifts the lid on what’s going wrong.
In the first episode, Julia and Arkin tackle the great British High Street with a swingeing look at retail. From the schoolboy whose GCSE coursework is hampered by the computer that just won’t work to the customer with impaired vision who just can’t understand why he’s been banned from his local supermarket, Are We Being Served? exposes the issues and demands answers while Arkin goes undercover to check out the state of customer service in high streets across Britain.
In future episodes, Julia and Arkin take a hard look at restaurants, trains, new homes, banks and garages and reveal the genuine heartache shoddy customer service can all too often cause. There’s the woman whose dream home is at risk thanks to banking errors, home owners losing sleep because of sound problems, the widower who is still waiting for some decent customer service after his wife had a terrifying experience on a train and the student who ended up in hospital after a bite on a burger. Julia and Arkin discover that, all too often, customer service is woeful.
Programme 1: The High Street
Consumer champion Julia Bradbury presents the first in a new series which looks at customer service in the UK. With newcomer and customer service expert, Arkin Salih, she lifts the lid on the great British High Street and discovers that customer service isn’t always what it might be. And when Arkin goes undercover, there are some surprises.
Programme 2: Restaurants
Eating out should be a real treat but, as Julia Bradbury and customer service expert, Arkin Salih, discover it’s not always the case. From the student rushed to hospital after a bite of a burger to the mum denied a half price meal because her 7 year old daughter’s too tall, Are We Being Served? reveals some woeful customer service.
Programme 3: Trains
Is customer service on trains going off the rails? Top tip from a cyclist on how to get your bike aboard, mothers up in arms and the widower waiting for someone to say sorry.
Programme 4: Banks
How modern banking is leaving an elderly couple out in the cold and threatens a single mum's new home. Are We Being Served asks where the personal touch has gone.
Programme 5: New Homes
A new home is the biggest expense we make but does customer service come up to scratch? The only whiff for some homeowners is that of sewage while others battle with noise problems and two mums go on the warpath.
