Play It Again

Play It Again charts the progress of six celebrities as they learn for the first time, or relearn, an instrument of their choice. It takes them back to childhood, to revisit music teachers who may have encouraged them too little, or maybe pushed them too much.

We follow Professor Robert Winston, Bill Oddie, Diane Abbott MP, Frank Skinner, Jo Brand and Aled Jones through their learning process and watch as they meet their musical heroes and get the chance to jam, play and rehearse with professionals including Stuart Copeland, the drummer from the Police, guitarist Mark Knopfler and Dave Davies of the Kinks, saxophonist Jonny Dankworth, Courtney Pine, Jools Holland and pianist Lang Lang.

We also explore their personal stories, pasts and relationships with music in general as well as their families through their interest in music.

And finally, after 6 months of lessons, hard practise and music conflicting with their work and personal lives, they perform a grand public finale to an audience of up to 8000.
