Another theme that has worked well is prisons. "The genre worked well on Bravo, but when we commissioned Diverse Production's The Prisoner X, it had to be tailored to Virgin 1," he says. "Rather than having a celebrity pontifi cating on a prison, we took it further and made them immerse themselves in the prisons. That's the Virgin 1 way - doing things differently...."
"Sammon says indies should not be put off from going to him with ideas not quite fi tting the bill because he will listen to everyone. Diverse Production's head of factual Mark Roberts describes Sammon as "a natural collaborator", who would rather come up with ideas to help a production work than dismiss it altogether".
